My dear fellow boat modellers,
On this very last day of another Pandemic sticken year it is my unpleassant duty to bring you thsese bad tidings. Due to circumstances stipulated in our own Rules, Mr Martin van Gelderen has no other option but to lay down his function as C class Section Leader. I will not go into the details of how and why here but personally i find the way how this came about very un-sportsmanlike and not at all correct! It shows very little respect towards Mr Van Gelderen’s years of dedication and excellent work in his beloved class C.
I would like to thank Martin for the many years he commited himself to Naviga and i know that the whole Presidium, and by extension the whole of Naviga only has fond memories of the years we shared together! A very succesful era comes to an end with his resignation and i do hope that whoever who will lead class C in the future will do so in the spirit of Martin’s excellent work!
For the time between now and a possible election of a new Section Leader for class C at the next World Championship i think it would be best to appoint a Section Leader ad interim. I spoke on the phone with Martin straight after i received his resignation and upon his very own recomandation on who would be suitable a suitable canidate(s) for this function, i decided this Section Leader ad interim should be Daniel Ciosu. Mr Ciosu has loads of experience in the class and has succesfuly organized several big events in class C, so for a good transition of leadership i think he is the best option.
Again, a massive thanks for all the years you dedicated to Naviga Martin, and you know out of sight does not mean out of heart at all! I sincerely hope our paths will cross again in the future and we all will keep on enjoying your passion and love for boat modelling in all aspects. As they say in Dutch: Het gaat je goed Martin, en tot we mekaar weer zien!
Walter Geens
Naviga President
